Most Popular Engagement Ring Trends in Houston
Houston is best known for some of the greatest achievements in technology and engineering, but it’s right up there when it comes to fashion too! Houston is the third most fashionable city in the US – so if you’re looking for an engagement ring in Houston, there’s no doubt you’ll have plenty of options.
This brings us to the question – What is the most popular engagement ring trend in Houston right now?
As one of the most in-demand engagement ring retailers in the city, we at Intercontinental Jewelers get to work closely with our Houston clientele, which helps us to keep a pulse on what’s trending when it comes to engagement ring designs.
And right now, we’re seeing two main designs that are trending through 2022. Both are versions of the classic solitaire.
1.Solitaire Diamond with Hidden Halo
- For one thing, it increases the glamor factor of the ring, making it stylish and classic, while still keeping the focus on the solitaire diamond. When viewed from above, the focus is on the solitaire, but when viewed from an angle, then the additional sparkle of the little accent diamonds stands out.
- Hidden halo settings are also an excellent way to emphasize the size of your diamond. It makes the center stone look larger. The interplay of light reflecting off the side stones onto the main stone can also make it appear more brilliant.
- There are many hidden halo ring designs. For example, you could consider choosing a hidden halo of gemstones, or opt for a different metal color for the halo.
- Another major advantage of the hidden halo solitaire setting is that it pairs well with any diamond shape. If the round diamond isn’t for you, you can choose any other shape and still be able to add a stylish halo to it.
- If you want a setting which shows from all angles, then the hidden halo might not be the right choice for you. As we already mentioned, it doesn’t really show from the top view of the ring, although it adds great detail to the side.
- Hidden halo settings often tend to sit a little high, as there has to be space for the halo to be added to the design. What this means is that you’ll be getting a ring with a higher profile. These are stunning designs, but come with some downsides – most notably, they tend to snag on things.
2.Solitaire Diamond with Side Stones
- As already mentioned, there are numerous ways to make a truly personalized side stone ring. For example, you can pick the shape, color, size, and even type of gemstone for your side stones, thereby accentuating the center stone in different ways. Let’s say you’re into large statement designs – then why not pick an unusual diamond shape for your side stones, like marquise or baguette? Or if you’re into minimalist styles, opt for smaller accent stones to keep it stylish yet lowkey.
- Side stones add to the beauty and sparkle of the center stone, making it appear like there’s a lot of sparkle going on. Three stones look a lot bigger than one single stone – so you can easily up the brilliance and beauty without breaking the bank.
- Speaking of the bank, three diamonds are a lot less expensive than one diamond of the same carat size as the three. So, you’ll increase the sparkle but not so much the price. And if you choose a retailer like Intercontinental Jewelers, who offer some of the best prices on the market because they eliminate the middlemen, you’ll be able to get your diamonds at the best possible price too.
- If your accent stones are as big or flashier than your center stone, they can steal the focus from the main stone. To avoid this, ensure that the accent stones are of the same quality as the center stone (not whiter for example) and speak to your jewelry designer about ways to make the center stone accentuated but not overshadowed by the stones.
